The State recognized accrediting agency’s position statement on high school equivalency is as follows:
A digital learning institution may not offer its students a high school equivalency credential online for the completion of a program that does not meet the state’s graduation requirements for a diploma. This position reflects what an accredited digital learning school may provide in order to help a student prepare in earning a recognized high school equivalency credential as determined by a governmental education authority.
In simple terms, the policy effective clearly states that no online schools may offer any equivalency program. State recognized accredited high schools can only offer an accredited 9-12 official high school diploma. Completing online courses will take some effort, but earning an accredited high school diploma is worth it.
