At Excel High School, we take pride in our student success stories, particularly those that emerge from collaborative efforts with other educators. In today’s blog post, we will spotlight a notable example from one of these initiatives, a success story from our partnership with Gale.

The partnership between Excel High School and Gale focuses on providing accessible, high-quality educational opportunities to adults. Through public libraries, this program offers a tuition-free, fully online platform for adults to earn an accredited high school diploma. With its academic focus and support resources, this program equips learners for future success in college, career advancement, or new vocational paths.

A recent story from Oklahoma, highlights the transformative impact of this program on the life of adult student, Jessica Martin.

Jessica Martin’s journey is a testament to the power of dedication and the opportunities provided by the partnership between Gale and Excel High School. Overcoming personal challenges and juggling a busy life, Jessica utilized the flexibility offered by the Gale program to work towards her high school diploma.

She often studied late into the night to fulfill her goal of earning her diploma by the age of 30. Her story, like those of many others in this program, demonstrates the resilience and commitment of adult learners striving to achieve their educational goals.

Available through public libraries, Gale Presents: Excel Adult High School is 100 percent online, tuition-free for students, and meets the 21.5-credit requirement necessary to earn an accredited high school diploma.

The Miami Public Library, recognizing the need for accessible education, has awarded scholarships to 10 residents for this statewide program. The program targets adults over the age of 25, offering them a chance to earn an official high school diploma. This initiative reflects Excel High School’s commitment to providing flexible and attainable education solutions for adults, enabling them to pursue their dreams and open new doors for their futures.

This initiative is especially significant given that nearly 30 million adults in the United States do not have a high school diploma. The program focuses on academic achievement and preparation for future endeavors, be it higher education, career advancement, or embarking on new vocational paths.

The curriculum includes core academic courses aligned with national standards, spanning English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Health/PE, Fine Arts, and a range of electives. The flexibility of self-paced classes, combined with the support of academic success coaches, ensures a comprehensive educational experience.

  Transforming Lives Through Education
