Program Overview

Earn Your Diploma Faster with Competency-Based Learning

The AcceleratED Adult Diploma is built for adults who already have real-world knowledge and experience. Instead of starting every class from the beginning, you can prove what you know and move ahead faster. This learning model—called Competency-Based Education (CBE)measures your mastery, not how much time you spend in class.

At Excel High School, every course begins with a simple test to see what you already know. If you pass, you earn credit and move on. If you need more review, you’ll take the course at your own pace with extra help and clear study guides.

How It Works

Start Each Course with a Credit-by-Exam

  • Every course begins with a short exam.
  • Score 70% or higher to earn full credit right away.
  • You get two attempts on each exam.
  • If you pass, you move on to the next course.
  • If you don’t pass, you continue into the full course to review and learn what’s needed.

Learn by Module (Step-by-Step)

  • Each course is broken into small sections called modules. Every module begins with a short pre-test.
  • Score 70% or higher on the pre-test to skip that module.
  • If not, complete the lessons and a short quiz.
  • You’ll need at least 60% to pass each quiz, with two tries allowed.
  • Study guides and feedback help you focus on what matters most.

Complete and Graduate

  • Once you finish all required modules and reach a final grade of 60% or higher, you’ll complete the course and move one step closer to graduation. You’ll repeat this process for each subject until all credits are earned and you receive your accredited high school diploma.
  • In short: you’re not repeating what you already know—you’re earning credit for it.
