Agriscience – Course Syllabus


This course introduces students to the multidisciplinary field of agriscience. Students will learn about animal and plant systems, water and soil management, as well as food products and processing systems. This course offers an opportunity to learn more about the various careers in this field as well as some of the latest technological developments. Students are encouraged to reflect on our complex agricultural system as both consumers and producers.

Throughout the course, you will meet the following goals:

  • • Describe early and modern examples of agriscience
  • • Explain the challenges facing the agriculture sector
  • • Differentiate between flow, renewable, and nonrenewable resources
  • • Describe common agricultural practices in water and soil management
  • • Detail the standard of care for domesticated animals
  • • Describe the various jobs available in agriscience as well as some of the advantages and disadvantages of being self-employed in this field.
